It seems that helping Afghanistan is becoming more and more popular in very recent months. This is somewhat fitting, though, since it is exciting to take part in the restructuring of a nation. As the United States military withdraws more troops from the region, time will tell if democracy can stand strong. However with help from the US and other countries around the world, the people of Afghanistan will be able to institute their new orders of economy, government, and industry and begin anew as a people.

Though it will certainly take many years, the time and energy invested will not only prove to be worthwhile for the citizens, but for the whole world that was threatened by this once war-torn country. Indeed, they have much growth and prosperity to look forward to in the coming decades.

When it comes to helping Afghanistan, obviously, there are many organizations you can work with. Many of these were formed during the reformation period and are strictly aimed at helping to improve the country. The JAHAN, which means world or universe, is a non-profit, apolitical, humanitarian organization that focuses helping women and children.

Cleverly, the name is also an acronym for Join And Help Afghanistan Now. Help the Afghan Children is a more straightforwardly-named organization with a similar agenda. Alternately, though, the ARYA is a group who donates 100% of their sales to orphans and widows. They market semi-precious stone jewelry and embroidered shirts and bags.

If you are more interested in helping Afghanistan through a non-profit international charity organization, you’ll be happy to know that the Red Cross and United Way are major contributors to the reformation efforts.

Other health organizations, like Partners in Health have a presence there too. Volunteer or professionally-based, you can’t go wrong with these tried-and-true standbys of charitable organizations.

Even before the recent, devastating earthquake, there were many organizations which wanted to help Haiti. Because this island nation was in such abject poverty, contributing in any way possible seemed like the right thing to do. Of course now, with the debilitating social, economic, and agricultural effects of one of the most drastic natural disasters, the people of this small nation are facing many hard months of survival but also of rebirth. While there are several all-volunteer organizations that were already established to specifically help the people of Haiti improve their quality of life, there are many other charities that have recently chipped in to give aid.

One way that people like to help out is through monetary donation. This includes formal payments like checks and money orders, but also cash and in some cases credit card payments.

You might also consider donating clothing that you don’t need or even house wares that you can easily replace. During times like this it is especially important to make sure that you give as much as you can to help Haiti because they are in such dire need of resources.

Another way that you can help Haiti, which is true for most cases, is with your time and energy. While flying half way across the world can be very expensive and time-consuming, it can also be uniquely rewarding, and provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Many times you can also write off your plane ticket as a charitable donation.

Actually, you can write off nearly anything and everything you give away, which is a great incentive to dig through your closets and garage to find goods that you no longer use or need. You’ll be providing a much needed service to people in a desperate separation and get a nice addition to your tax return in the process.
